Isn’t this why we’d expect new users to use a built-in package manager? Because it avoids this exact problem?

Pushing someone new to Linux to use Flatpak? Shame on you.
Right, that is your experience. And I’m telling you that there are cast iron fry pans that can defeat wire brushes, both manual and ones you attach to your power drill. (Of course it’s up to you if you want to believe me. There’s no particular reason to believe some random stranger online, but then again, there’s no obvious benefit for me to lie about it.)
Don’t worry. They feel the same way about you. :-)
That really depends on the condition of the pan. I’ve had some where power tools were insufficient.
Nothing wrong with learning new tricks, but it’s worth mentioning on the side that sometimes a cron job is the right tool.
What do you even mean? By that standard everyone is obnoxious.
Or perhaps you think the lightweight religious folk are magically less obnoxious? I dunno.
apt is easy to use and read. I haven’t dreamed of searching for a shiny replacement because there’s no problem to solve.
Same here. We gotta aim for the younger generations.
I don’t think you need to be patriotic to want to defend your country from fascist invaders. That’s a purely practical consideration if nothing else.
That depends what you think the greatest threats to quality of life for the average in American are. I believe the greatest threat is the corrupt system, which gives more power and money to the rich and screws over almost everyone else, and both of those candidates are firmly entrenched in it.
They both know and embrace their role in that system, although they would phrase it in different terms.
Finally, you asked about objective terribleness. But there is no such thing. This is all subjective, because of course it is, the country has hundreds of millions of residents who all have different priorities.
Patriotism is such a terrible thing in general.
Yes and no. Fascist governments aren’t pointing their guns at big companies.
Flatpak is one extra step. If apt or rpm already has what you want, which is true for many new users, why would we push them towards scary click thru action?
