This sounds like a DE thing than a Wayland/X thing.
Ok, thanks for the heads-up. I’m running it in a local VM and for some reason my host Arch system is significantly faster at downloading and installing packages than the blendOS guest. Not sure why, but just thought I’d mention it.
Edit: never mind, I messed up the first installation so had to do-over, and the slow download speed seems to have recovered this time.
Follow-up question: I’m in the US and the initial installation is taking forever. Pacman seems to be running at just 60-80 KiB/s when I normally get 5MiB/s. IS there a way to have the installer choose a local mirror before downloading all the packages?

I’ve personally had issues with Fedora’s version updates - once with Fedora and another with Nobara (which is Fedora based). In both cases, dependency conflicts broke the update and they were a considerable pain to fix. It was enough for me to switch to a rolling release distro and never look back.

Gnome with GTK4 + adw-gtk3 looks far cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing than Plasma + Breeze, IMO.
Gnome lets you do this on the primary display, but afaik it’s not possible on the secondary/tertiary displays.
Out of interest, hsve you heard/read much about VanillaOS and their AB partition system, and if so what do you make of that compared to Fedora Atomic?

I’d say switch to gnome-boxes or virt-managerif possible - they don’t have this issue with Wayland and perform better than VMWare / Virtual Box anyway.
The installation is the easy part; first I have to back up all my configs. It’s the media machine in the living room, though, so it’s not super urgent.
Agreed. I was enthusiastic about Nobara all the way up until I had to do a version upgrade. If I had to start from scratch now, I’d go with Bazzite.

Yup, same here. I’ve also used it to write shell scripts and figure out unique ways to configure my system that I would have been hard pushed to achieve via a web search. It’s incredibly useful.
Because a significant number of people still interact with the desktop via mouse rather than keyboard shortcuts.
Hell, I use hot keys for most things but I still often prefer to quickly minimize a window with the cursor instead of reaching across the keyboard. The first thing I do with a vanilla Gnome installation is get Tweaks on there and restore window buttons.
