Hint: try another USB port.
USB is like a network, and it could be a jungle of cables and ports and switches and bridges and whatnot. But the closer you get to the mainboard, the better are your chances to escape such a problem.

I can only assume that you are very young.
In our times, a good rant has gotten somewhat out of fashion, and that is a sad fact. A good rant does not make you an AH (or anybody else). It is different from spreading hate (which is quite fashionable these days). You must learn the distinction.
He acted like a huge asshole
Not at all. I can’t remember anything like that.
But Linus was very likeable among the computer nerds of his own generation. These eccentricities that are criticized today have actually added a lot to his fame.
gave me only “complex” answers
It is a complex question, even if you try so hard to deny that :-)
One sender only? Or how many possible senders?
How many Receivers?
Do they need to talk back or send back anything?
How far away are they (in terms of network)?
Ghosts.
You’d better call the Ghostbusters.
Because not Japanese :)
ONY
Is it French?
;-)
Darktable can do that, but be sure to watch a tutorial or two on youtub (because the most efficient ways to do such a job are not obvious at all):
Nonsense, yes. Isn’t that what low effort posts (like nothing else but a link) are made for?
I know only 1 reason: being too stupid :-)
I prefer to have no laptop at all (but I guess you didn’t want to hear that)
Only some truly superior software can afford a GUI that’s >10 years outdated :)
is a 10 year old macbook pro
10+ years old laptop batteries have a habit of dying eventually. And some of them (not many) cause a fire then - especially while charging up.
I have seen it - well, 3 hours later in the morning then.
I would not leave this device alone with the power cord plugged in. Charge it only while you are there, so you recognize it, if it decides to heat up someday. Then have a metal bucket ready to carry it outside.
Your wlan
Your home lan
The internet
That makes three networks. Not two.
First, think about the way from the internet to your home lan. Is there NAT happening? Is there a DHCP server?
And then on the way from lan to wlan your server is doing NAT and DHCP again.
That doubling of NAT and/or DHCP is probably creating trouble.
Recently I tried a new, modern distro: Solus.
After installation, I survived about 10 minutes without a command line and the next thing I needed was their package manager’s manual (because that fancy GUI software shop simply killed itself)
No big deal for me. I feel safe on these paths. But IMHO “Linux without command line” is still only a dream.
I suspect that your /srv had already existed before you mounted that drive for the very first time, and there were even some files in /srv.
The mounting of the drive has made these “old” /srv files invisible. But it has not deleted them. Now you unmounted the drive, and they have come back like Zombies :)
