I’m mostly half-serious.

Complaining about the rules is, ironically, against the rules. I found that out the hard way.
Great ideas. Too bad our politicians don’t listen to us.
You mean introduce some level of automation? Because I already manually name the files according to keywords
This is why I name literally everything I save according to words I would use to search it.
Thundercat is a master at the base who really opened my eyes to their unappreciated percussive role in music.
There are ideas that don’t deserve a platform (like literal Nazis) and then there are ideas that are not allowed on here because disagreement itself unacceptable. To give a non-politial example, imagine someone who made a post explaining why they like Windows better than Linux. That’s one out of many opinions that are simply not allowed on here.
Lemmy is an echo chamber too. Pro-Linux, anti-Google, pro-Socialism, anti-conservative. I’m still here because I happen to agree with the echo chamber, but let’s not pretend that a diversity of ideas are allowed equal say on this platform.
Also let’s not forget that Reddit has duration as an advantage. I can look back 10 years on a tv show that is no longer airing and there will still be discussion threads from when it came out. That’s literally impossible to manufacture overnight, so Reddit has a huge edge.
Seriously, OP is straw-manning. There’s not this much politics on other sites. Lemmy has a ton of tankies so everything is about communism here
As others have said, we often make fun of ourselves. On these platforms, the liberal side of America is very vocal about the conservative side of America. Healthcare, guns, cost of living, etc. are something we’re constantly being made fun of (often from ourselves).
If you’ve experienced pushback, it’s likely because it gets stale as a subject. We know our country has problem; most of us feel powerless to change it.
Maybe that’s what happens when you have this much diversity in a country. We’re not like the French who can all unify and protest when needed.
edit: Rereading this, it makes it sound like I think diversity is a bad thing. Didn’t mean to imply that, its just that we’re so different its harder to unify.
I can try to make the material interesting and be engaging but if you’re watching Overwatch on your phone all of that is a moot point.
I hear more complaining about commies/tankies than I actually see posts from them
I have no issue with oral sex between consenting adults. But this meme would not be as well received if the genders were reversed. It’s hard to even imagine someone posting “always be there for your man in a time of crisis” with the woman going down on the guy.
I don’t want to sound like an incel, and I like eating vag/salad as much as the next guy, but imagine this image with the genders reversed
I am your father… you piece of shit
